Amazon announced Thursday during a press conference in Santa Monica, California, a new Kindle with e-ink screen "frontlit", achieving greater sharpness.
Called "Kindle Paperwhite", the device is likely to competence with the Nook Simple Touch from Barnes & Noble. The Paperwhite Kindle 3G is priced at U $ S179 and S119 of $ for the version with Wi-Fi only.
The Paperwhite Kindle will be available on October 1 and the pre-order has already started. The e-reader has a contrast 25% higher than the Pearl screens that appear on other Kindle models and has a screen resolution 62% greater. It measures 9.1 mm thick with a narrow bezel. Bezos said that is actually thinner than a magazine and lighter than a paperpack. The sources are resizable.
The Paperwhite Kindle also includes the feature "Time to read" which is your reading speed and tells you how long it is likely that you take to finish a chapter. This can help you decide whether or not to go to bed or stay up late to finish a chapter, based on their own pace. Another feature called X-Ray provides biographies of the characters and allows you to jump back to the part of the book in which it is first introduced.
